For the past 5 weeks, it’s all been about ‘Getting to know GHATOF’; what the association stands for and who make up her membership. So far, you have been introduced to associations related to transportation and agencies to help, and associations with their core business as ‘places to spend the night’ (lodging/accommodation), associations of food and beverage businesses and what I referred to last week as ‘educational tourism, domestic tourism and youth clubs’
This week, I have labeled this category of GHATOF members I am presenting as “Supporting Those Who Serve”. Reading about them, I realize each organization has identified herself with unique roles towards supporting the industry. This ranges from promoting customer excellence, to supporting career development and gender balance in all areas of the hospitality and tourism industry, to promoting activities to enhance events and last but not the least, promoting the industry as a whole through professional reporting.
Following my interactions with member associations so far, I am beginning to consider what GHATOF would be like to flip the umbrella culture concept with which she operates to a mixing bowl culture, a thought-provoking concept for all.
Do read through the descriptions of these associations “Supporting Those Who Serve” and visit their sites.
